the road is still damp from heavy rain overnight

Park manager Clark Alexandre
stops by to say hello and offer guidance

Chisel, feathers and wedges,
are still stuck in the rock we left here 2 weeks ago

Marty drills another set of holes
next to the stuck devices

It sorta splits, but did not free
all of the previous feathers and wedges

Down at the upper worksite
work continues on the new crib wall

Digging a base for the crib-wall across the hillside

We don't always use the big pick mattocks and shovels,
sometimes it's hands and knees with smaller tools

Looking downhill at the lower worksite,
Jim is shaping the bedrock

Oops, someone was standing a little close
to the flying shrapnel

Back at the rock pile,
Bill drills 13 holes in this big rock

Tappy tap, tappy tap, tappy tap
pause, repeat

And boom, two pieces
we'll get 2 steps out of each piece

More big rocks being moved into the lower worksite

The upper worksite is constructing a crib-wall
going across the hillside

Inching our way closer to the top
as the hill keeps getting steeper

Back at the rock pile

10 minutes later and a nice big crack

Now that's a nice split

End of day crew meeting,
discuss today, make plans for tomorrow

Saturday morning, and guess what? It's raining

Don't let that sunshine fool you.
It's going to rain again any minute

Until it does, Peter gets to work on the griphoist

It's 9:30 and it's raining again.
Wow our volunteers are dedicated

Lunch break and still raining,
we'll call it a day

A beautiful Sunday morning,
a crew of 17 volunteers out today

Holes drilled, Beau sets the feathers and wedges

Break time break time, time for a little safety break

After break, Jess does the tappy tap

10 minutes later, a big crack appears
5 minutes later, the rock fell apart

A flurry of activity at the upper worksite

Using the small? rocks from the bag as crush

Len is preparing a special lunch treat today

Lunch break and a lot of smiling faces

After lunch it's back to the tappy tap for Jess

Beau steps in to lend a hand

Using a rock bar, Jess opens the split

Nice work, a clean straight break

Another clean break,
Jess was very productive today

End of day crew meeting with fresh watermelon.
