We need more big rocks

We found many

Some were very big

All shapes were welcome

Set them in the truck,
take them to Tallman Mountain

The upper lot is empty and waiting

Here comes the rocks, here comes the rocks

Taking no chances of getting stuck in the mud,
we chose the upper lot for this delivery

Another load of big rocks
just waiting for us to split

Time to start drilling and splitting rocks

Marion picks an easy one with lots of fissures

An hour and a half later it finally split

Marion plans on breaking this big rock
into three pieces

Working hard, Marion
split this one in under an hour

A lot of holes, feathers & wedges
and patience resulted in …....

50 minutes later and it's a clean break

Next one up is a crooked rock

Marion is really good at splitting rocks

End of day crew meeting and the sun is out.
It's been a good day.

Saturday morning,
Terri has a hammer drill under control

In no time at all,
Terri has 10 feathers and wedges ready

Break time, time to let the rock adjust

After break, the split is quite apparent

Dan helps Marisol push it over the edge

And away it goes

After the split, new volunteer Jessie
and Russ try to move it out of the way

Terri is keeping real busy,
drilling, splitting, drilling, splitting

Now it's Marty's turn with the hammer drill

Our worksite keeps moving,
so the highline keeps moving

Down at the work site,
Vivian and Marisol work on step building

Chris uses the shaping hammers for a better fit

Making good progress today

Gathering materials for tomorrow's crew

It's the end of our workday,
so we will leave it like this overnight

First thing Sunday morning,
Howie gives it some more taps

Letting the feathers and wedges sit overnight,
makes it looks easy

Sebastian breaks this one loose,
but how did he get here?

Next, put it in a tub,
and drag it over to the staging area

Team Rubicon member Papi, drills some holes

Now Terri is back to drilling holes

Looking good, BUT will need lots more crush

Another crib wall also needing more crush

It is starting to rain,
so Marty will just drill the 13 pilot holes
