Another beautiful day

A great turnout today, 18 volunteers

One of our first tasks
was to move the last rock
from the dump pile

This is how that was accomplished

The crib-wall rock being moved
towards the staging area

It's in a sling and ready to go

How do we lift heavy rocks

The doubler block allows
for lifting heavier loads with less effort.
This rock weights approximately 1000 lb.

And there it is on its way downhill

At the worksite we wrestle it off the highline

The next section
begins after our new platform

Lunch break and a chance to rest in the sun

Back to building the trail
after the platform

Also continue building steps up to the platform

It's end-of-day smiles
as we head back to the parking lot

Saturday morning,
same place, and a crew of 19 today

to get down to the mineral soil

We use a lot of buckets.
Buckets for dirt, tools, gravel, crush and mineral soil

Another big crib wall rock is on the move

Using a rope puller and a lot of muscle,
to move it into place

Our new platform is beginning to look like a platform

Break time, nice day, but still no sun

On our way back down to the worksite,
we pass where the dump pile once stood

Of course
we want the platform to be level

The next section is really taking shape

we are already down to mineral soil

Sunday morning, here's Terri
wearing our new first aid backpack

The chief spots a broken branch
right over our worksite

A saw attached to an extension pole
lets him cut it out of harms way

Making the platform a little wider

A little piece of bedrock
is in the way

Two hours later
and Howie still hasn't given up
