The Parks Department is back gathering big rocks

Let's break some rocks

It's a beautiful day
as the crew quickly gathers together

Down at the worksite
the highline needs to be moved

The chief is rearranging the block

As long as the tree doesn't break and fall over

The first rock of the day is on its way downhill

And comes to a stop after a tub #2

Back at the new rock pile,
Trinity and Marion start to work

Trinity shows Marion the best place to drill

With this much rock dust, a mask is recommended

Trinity is hoping for a clean break in this big rock,
it's now 10:25 am

Break time, wow what a beautiful day

11:04 am and still no break

This time it's Tom working the griphoist,
and lowering big rocks down the hill

11:25 am… we have a break

Jeff poses with the last rock going downhill today

Bill keeps a good grip on the travel block,
as the belay is drawn tight

At the end of the day, Joe and Howie,
are making their last trip up the mountain

Saturday morning sign-in.

At the worksite, Len gets the rigging ready

Bob unloads the first tub #2 load of the day,
there will be many many more

It takes team effort to get the rocks
from the tub to the worksite

Trinity checks the feathers and wedges
she put in yesterday

Looking closely, she sees the crack

With yesterday's section (2) now broken off,
Trinity will split the first piece (1) broken off yesterday.

Our new rock pile is shrinking fast

Marci and Howie at the staging pile,
sling it up move it out

Break time, Break time,
time for a little break

At the worksite,
the crew is really stepping it up

Topside, Marci works the griphoist,
Jeff stands by for assistance

end up on the X before being moved downhill

End of day crew meeting
on a beautiful October day

Early Sunday morning, and the parking lot is empty

After a brief safety meeting,
Howie and Dan get to work

It's only 9:04 and Dr. Dave
has already been crawling around in the dirt

Jim and Terri use tub #1 to move rocks
from the rock pile to the staging area

Trinity on belay as another rock goes down the hill

The rock travels down the highline #1 to position A,
then slid down the rock bars to position B

Russ and Howie have a difficult time
digging in ultra dry dirt, AKA powder

Howie uses the cutter mattock to deal with this root

Chris receives another big rock
at the end of Highline #2

Finally safety break time and we needed it.
It's October 20th and it's 84°

Dr. Dave at the end of highline #3, slides the big rocks down to the worksite using only a belay

Dan tries everything to chip away some bedrock

Joe lifts another big rock out of tub #1
and down the hill using the highline

What's this?
Even Len's nose is growing a beard

Trinity's next big rock already has a crack

It took about an hour and a half,
but that's a perfect break

Time to wrap it up and make it safe.
That pile is a lot smaller than it was Friday morning

End of day, end of weekend crew meeting.
What a beautiful and productive weekend

Work completed this weekend
