Friday morning 4/3/2026
A crew of 18 Volunteers out today

Work continues
at the troublesome corner

Carefully remeasuring the corner step

Joe continues the preparation for this big rock

Several buckets of dirt
have already been removed

Looks good,
let's see if the step fits

Almost, just dig a little deeper
and add some crush

Dug deeper, crush added

Using a rope-puller,
Chris pulls the step into place

Bob adjusts the crush so the step will be level

Slack hoist; looks like it's going to fit

Further down the hill,
a little repair work is under way

New volunteers, James and Dylan getting
hands-on experience in step building

Just below that last corner step,
Tom is back trying to remove some bedrock

Chris cuts groves in the bedrock
using a battery powered angle grinder

Then Tom breaks out the pieces

Next Chris cuts more groves

Then Tom breaks out the pieces

After lunch,
Bob and Joe have the next step in the air

End of day look at the corner step (X)
The next step (A) will be properly set tomorrow

a gloomy and chilly morning

18 eager Volunteers out today,
the work isn't easy but still they come

Here's our sign

A quick walk in and up to our worksite.
Trail rehab by LDTC started last August

At the top of our worksite
Rich and Russ build a crib-wall

Terri starts drilling holes
to split big rocks into several steps

Carlos gets in on the action

After all that drilling, Chris begins the tappy tap

While that's going on,
Russ prunes roots from the next steps base

Dan works his way through the rocks.
It's tough but Dan makes it look easy

Russ uses a steel wedge to open up the split

Nice work Russ. A beautiful straight break

Katlyn pitches in and starts making crush

Matt agrees and also starts making crush.
We can never have too much crush

We are going to fit a crib-wall
and a few steps in here

Marty works to make more steps

Now in a sling and connected to the highline

Giving it a full body push

Then setting it into place

This big rock is headed downhill

It will be a step just before that difficult turn

Back at the top, another step is going in

As always, it will be level

Finally the sun came out
just in time for lunch

I think Stephanie was rocked to sleep

After lunch, it's back to harvesting new steps

And slowly moving them into place

Carlos applies the finishing touches
on that difficult turn

Below the turn,
we made it over the bedrock

End of day crew meeting,
Sunday was a rain out
