Where we park and our worksite.

Friday morning, Elk Pen parking lot

Less than two months old these steps
look like they've been here forever

Quickly working our way up the hillside

Leaves are falling faster than we can clear the trail

Jim and Len building a water-bar/step

This will help keep water off the trail

It's coming,
but first Joe smashes bedrock out of the base

After lunch, using rock bars to get it closer to the hole

Dr. Dave has control of the belay
for the next big rock

And it is a big rock

End of the day, finally got that rock in the hole.
We will set it in place tomorrow

That rock (X) will be the base for 5 more steps

tomorrow he'll finish this area

This might look Ok but its too low.
It needs another layer of crush and mineral soil

Empty area has been filled in with big crush.
Tomorrow Marty will turn this into smaller crush and add mineral soil

This is that empty area now filled with crush and topped with mineral soil
