Appalachian Trail relocation
on Surebridge Mountain… continues

Tiorati parking lot closed for line painting,
so we assembled in Camp Mosholu's lot

Today we have a crew of 15 volunteers

At one end,
half the crew finishes the steps

Moving a few big rocks into place

This is the last rock needed at this end

The chief does a final inspection
and is proud of our efforts

The southern end of this relocation is ready,
we will block it off until the northern end is finished

Work continues at the northern end

More side-hilling

Continue building a water-bar

Removing small boulders or cobbles

More crush and pavers added here

Dr. Dave gets to the root of the problem

Marty uses his iPhone as a level,
while Rich keeps it in place

Too many black flies today,
so Marion is wearing her bug net

Using a rock tub,
Rich brings in mineral soil to cover the crush

discuss moving these rocks out of the way

Now out of the way,
the trail will be easier to maintain

with another great turnout of 15 volunteers

Once again, our day starts off with side-hilling

No big rocks, no highline, just more side-hilling

We still need a handful of steps,
so Russ looks for a few big rocks

Just ahead we turn and go downhill,
the turn blaze is already on the tree
