Friday 12/1/2023
and a beautiful start to our final weekend for 2023

Today we have a crew of 13 volunteers

Now leaving the woods lot

Len already has a rock in the air

Russ helps push,
while Sandy works the grip-hoist

There she is lifting those big rocks

More pushing and using a rope puller

Len digging a basin
for the next crib-wall rock

Paul and Howie
do a little fine tuning to the basin

Tom making more crush,
because we always need more crush

Marion supervises the worksite,
so no one gets injured

The next rock is in the sling,
and that's Marty on the belay

Anyone not ready?
then…  Tension Hoist

Over at the grip-hoist,
Len is having a learning moment

Len is learning, when the cable is slack
the handle is difficult to operate

Sandy and Jim making crush
while Dr. Dave takes a break

Sandy keeps an eye on the next rock
going for a ride

Dr. Dave gives it a little push to help it along

Chris has the rope puller cable,
ready to be attached to the sling

Now it's Jim's turn on the grip hoist

Making slow but steady progress

to get the sling off the rock

Here comes another big rock

With the basin ready,
this crib-wall rock fits perfectly

The next crib-wall rock is on the move

Howie works the rope-puller
to move it into place

It's a big rock, but Russ has it under control

It's 3:30 and Dr Dave and the Chief
make it back to the woods lot

Friday's end of day crew meeting

A dreary, and foggy Saturday morning

No Jeff today,
So Howie brings the crumb cake

Don presents the chief
with a custom made saw handle

A refresher course by Peter

On our way to the worksite base

it's in and it's level

It's level both ways,
That's just the way we like it

Saturday morning safety break

A large group of hikers stopped by,
and posed for photos next to our banner

Time to take the high-lines down

In the fog,
Polecat Peter, hangs on tight

Only 1 hour later and the sun is now shining

Peter heads up tree #4

Up up, up to the top of the ladder

From this angle
this tree looks like a work of art

Peter is removing the last sling from the tree

Everything done and all tools packed up,
Peter is the last to leave the site

With help from the Parks Department
All gear and tools
made it back to the wood lot

Marty's truck takes most tools and the big ladder

Final crew meeting of 2023
Sunday 12/3/2023 was cancelled because of rain

This where the tools spend the winter

And the ladders will hang around in my carport
