Saturday 10/21/2023
Friday was cancelled because of rain

Now at the woods lot,
it's time to start hiking

At the worksite
Peter gears up to move high-line 1

Peter starts setting up the ladder
But needs a belay to go any higher

Looking for a branch
for the belay to go over

Dan begins major side-hilling

Looks like Dr. Dave has the slingshot weight
caught up in the tree

Peter looks for the lost weight,
it's up there somewhere

We retrieved the slingshot weights,
but the slingshot came apart

Howie joins Dan side-hilling
and they are both down to mineral soil

Amongst the dull and drab
we find something beautiful

On the way to our worksite,
you can see yesterday‘s side-hilling

Today we are back extending the crib-wall

But first, let‘s lower the high-line

Russ uses a rock bar to protect the tree

Marty rolls a big rock out of the way

The hole is ready, bring on the rock

Oops, the high-line got caught on the ladder

Securing a second block to a nearby tree,
keeps the high-line away from the ladder

That worked, and the rock is now in the hole

It's in the hole, just not sitting correctly

Our rope-puller, another very important tool

It can pull the rope tight
or slack the rope to adjust the rock

It helps get the rock into position

The next big rock is ready to go

Trying to decide which way works the best

Ok, now the next rock is ready

This one needs a little
man power to get in place

Almost there, just needs a little push

Ok it's in, and of course it's level

This next one we'll move by hand

Oh Boy, the next one is really big

Terri is on the grip hoist today
and will lift this one by herself

It's in place, now let's make it stable

Now stable, fill in behind it with crush

Russ breaks the big crush into smaller pieces

Crush ready, next comes the mineral soil

All that crush
now covered with mineral soil

Last rock for today,
we have to keep it from rolling downhill

Ok that's far enough for now
we will move it again next work trip
