A great Friday morning turnout in parking lot D

A sketch and a plan for this weekends work

This is a high traffic public area,
Jeff stresses the importance
of keeping an eye on the high-line

Our new banner is going up
while Marion continues making crush

Russ and Joe check out the new water level

Marion and Dan keep making crush

We used an extra long sling extension,
to reach the next big rock

The rock got a little closer, so switch out the extension

Now that we have it even closer,
we can take out the short extension

Jeff connects the safety belay before we lift it again

Dr. Dave on rope puller, Tabitha is his tailer

This is how LDTC moves big rocks safely

It takes teamwork
to push this big crib-wall rock into place

Rock-bars and muscle get it set correctly

It took only one hour to move that heavy crib-wall rock
from here, all the way over to there

Rock bars help Tabitha and Bob
adjust this big crib-wall rock

But the big rock had to be lifted to be repositioned

Hey, look way over there, what‘s that in that truck?

Thanks to the Parks Department,
we got a truckload of gravel

Looks like about 8 to 10 yards, that will be a big help

We are still trying to get that crib-wall rock set right

To move the next step, Russ is on the rope puller

That step is in the air by way of a high-line,
the rope puller pulls it uphill,
and Joe on the belay, keeps it from swinging

Everyone keeps an eye on it,
while Dan nudges it into place

Of course, it will be level

Heavy rain chased us back to the parking lot by 2pm

Saturday morning and Peter has returned from Japan

Dan and Jeff begin the next basin

The next crib-wall rock, is in the air

This is a heavy rock to pull uphill

We needed Peter‘s muscle on the rope-puller

Russ and Bob are keeping it steady

Trying to find the perfect fit

This rock will be a crib-wall wedge

It fits but it‘s just a little too big

Jack tries to break a little off the edge

The next step is on the line

It‘s an odd shape, so let‘s spin it around

Terri gathers up gravel to put in the base

Maybe we can just wiggle it into position

Time for a well needed safety break

Peter cleans and repairs the doubler pulley

Jeff and Jack are ready with the next step

Russ not happy with the wedge rock,
wants to try something else

With the new wedge rock in place,
Jeff hand carries the next step

Ahh lunch break and time to discuss our next move

After lunch we‘re back moving big rocks

Russ measures this big one so we can have a hole ready

It‘s heavy…  . and it has to go higher

Jack really working the grip-hoist

Moving the sling knot to the bottom
so we can spin the rock

Sling ready, just lift and spin

Looks great, now for the next one

The high-line lifts and drags the next big rock,
while the belay keeps it from swinging

We‘ll leave it sitting here until we need it

End of day crew meeting here in the shade
and not in the hot parking lot

Sunday morning, parking lot D, a crew of six today

New volunteer Hannah
is already getting her gloves dirty

After safety break, we stop for a group shot,
Jack is holding the camera

Jeff thinks this is the last rock in our pile
that we could use as a step

All agree, we don‘t think it will fit

It might fit if we just wiggle it and spin it around

One last try but I still don‘t think it will fit

You are right Jeff, it just doesn‘t fit

We will reevaluate these steps
during our next crew outing

From this viewpoint,
you can see we are moving in the right direction

Looking back at our rock pile,
we see there is not much to choose from
